NCMA Professionally Accredited Programs at Brock University
Through our Hamilton-Niagara Chapter, CIM | Chartered Managers Canada has partnered with Brock University in St. Catherines, Ontario to ensure that they offer programs that align with our Chartered Management Program. By completing any of these programs at Brock University, you will become eligible for our Certified in Management (C.I.M.) or Chartered Manager (C.Mgr.) professional designations. Brock University offers multiple degree programs, giving you flexibility in choosing a program that will help you develop your management skills while still being eligible for a designation.
Brock University was founded in 1964 as a result of a movement which was started and championed by the Allanburg Women’s Institute in 1957 to open a university in the Niagara region. Since its founding, the university has graduated over 100,000 students in business, entertainment, sports and academics and currently offers their programs to over 19,000 students at their lone campus in St. Catherines, Ontario. Many graduates have gone on to be C-Suite executives, entrepreneurs and management innovators. Brock University offers primarily in-person courses, but is shifting to online and hybrid learning structures due to recent world events. Bachelor of Business Administration
This four-year bachelor degree program from the Goodman School of Business at Brock University begins with core courses that teach the fundamentals of business management. In the third and fourth year of the program, students will be able to select courses that focus on the following concentrations:
- Accounting
- Entrepreneurship
- Finance
- General Management
- Human Resource Management
- Information Systems
- International Business
- Marketing
- Operations Management
- Public Administration
Students can choose to either focus on a single concentration or mix and match courses across any of these concentrations to better suit their learning goals. The Bachelor of Business Administration program also offers an option for a co-op work placement which ads another semester to the program, but will allow students to gain valuable work experience that they can take into their management roles after graduation.
Master of Business Administration
The Master of Business Administration program at Brock University is a nationally recognized MBA program that features a comprehensive curriculum with specializations in accounting, business analytics, finance, human resource management, marketing and operations management. This program is normally completed in two years of full-time study, but students who have recently received high grades in a program with a similar curriculum (such as the Bachelor of Business Administration at Brock University) may qualify for advanced standing and get up to ten course exemptions. The full ten exemptions would bring the program completion time down to one year of full-time study. Applicants of the Brock University Master of Business Administration program must have the following to meet the minimum admission requirements:
- Four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in any field
- A GMAT score of at least 550, or a GRE score in the 60th percentile.
- Note: This requirement can be waived for students who have completed a bachelor's or master's degree in Canada or the U.S. in the last seven years with an overall average of A- or better (80% or 3.67 GPA), or have completed the CFA Level 3 program.
- Minimum English Language Proficiency score
- TOEFL IBT: 105
- Academic IELTS: 7.5
- Pearson Test of English (Academic): 72
