NCMA Professionally Accredited Programs at Western University
Through our London Chapter, CIM | Chartered Managers Canada has partnered with Western University to ensure that they offer programs that align with our Chartered Management Program. By completing any of these programs at Western University, graduates will become eligible for our Certified in Management (C.I.M.) designation. Western University offers multiple accredited programs, giving them flexibility in choosing a program that will help you develop your management skills while still being eligible for a designation.
Western University was founded in 1878 as The Western University of London Ontario. Since its founding nearly 150 years ago, Western University has grown to teach more than 36,000 students at their sole campus in London and has graduated thousands of students who have become experts and innovators in their respective fields within Canada and around the world including Sir Fredrick Banting who discovered insulin, and Dr. Chil-Yong Kang who developed an HIV vaccine that received approval for human clinical trials in the United States. Western University has been home to the Richard Ivey School of Business since 2012 where they offer comprehensive business programs to prepare students for careers in management. Professional Certificate in Business Management
This eight-course certificate program was developed as a result of CIM | Chartered Manager’s Canada’s partnership with Western University and includes courses that directly align with the Chartered Management Program (CMP). The program teaches students the foundational knowledge that they will need to become eligible for our designations and to pass the Management Aptitude Evaluation (MAE). In order to complete this certificate program, students will need to complete the following required courses:
- Business Administration
- Business Finance
- Managerial Communications
- Business Strategy
In addition to the core courses, students will also need to complete four elective courses chosen from the following list:
- Introduction to Labour Management Relations
- Principles of Marketing
- Fundamentals of Accounting
- Introduction to Human Resource Management
- Business Law
- Organizational Behaviour
All courses within this program have the option to be taken online, or on campus through evening classes.
Professional Certificate in Public Sector Management
This certificate program is available to academic and administrative leaders, and staff who are engaged in human resources, accounting or financial management at the university. This program consists of eight courses that are directly aligned with the Chartered Management Program (CMP). Employees of Western University can take advantage of this program to advance their career and move into higher roles within the institution. Staff members enrolled in this program must complete all eight of these required courses:
- Introduction to Public Sector Management
- Managerial Communications
- Fundamentals of Accounting: Public Sector
- Introduction to Human Resource Management
- Financial Management
- Introduction to Labour Relations
- Organizational Behaviour
- Strategic Analysis
