Acadia University is one of the oldest universities in Canada. It was founded in 1831 by the Nova Scotia Baptist Education Society as Queen’s College and later changed to Acadia College in 1841. The institution began awarding degrees in 1843 and continued to grow until it became Acadia University in 1891 through the ratification of the Acadia University Act. Since its founding, the university has grown to teach thousands of students from nearly every province and territory and 60 foreign countries each year. Acadia University is renowned for providing a thorough education that supports students with small class sizes (28 students on average), a large roster of faculty and student support staff, 200 flexible degree programs with 160 of them having co-op options and providing over $5 million in scholarships every year.
