Inside CIM | Chartered Managers Canada
By CIM National | Chartered Managers Canada
From strategic planning and member engagement to expanding educational partnerships, CIM | Chartered Managers Canada continues to build on its foundations while creating new opportunities for members across Canada and beyond.
A Stronger Association Starts with Its Members
As CIM | Chartered Managers Canada looks toward the future, collaboration, good governance, and member engagement remain central to its continued growth. In this issue's message to members, President and Board Chair Steve Lupky, C.I.M., C.Mgr., reflected on the Association's newly adopted 2027–2030 Strategic Plan and the importance of translating organizational priorities into meaningful value for members. Strengthening professional designations, supporting Chapters, and creating opportunities for professional connection are key to this direction.
The Association is also advancing several important initiatives, including an updated Chapter Operations Manual and Reference Guide, proposed governance improvements, and the development of its Leadership HUB, which will focus on human-centred leadership development.
Together, these initiatives reflect a commitment to building an Association that is responsive to its members, supported by strong governance, and positioned for sustainable growth.
National Leadership Comes Together in Toronto
On October 2–3, 2026, members of CIM's National Board of Directors and Chapter Liaison Committee gathered in Toronto for two days of in-person meetings, collaboration, and strategic discussion. The gathering provided an important opportunity for national and Chapter leadership to exchange perspectives, discuss operational priorities, and consider how our association can better support its members and Chapters across the country.
As a volunteer-led professional Association, the CIM benefits enormously from the dedication of members who contribute their time, expertise, and experience to its governance and development. These discussions, including constructive feedback from Chapter representatives, help ensure that national initiatives remain informed by the needs and experiences of local members.
Looking Ahead: National AGM and Board Elections
Members are encouraged to take part in the Association's upcoming Annual General Meeting on Saturday, November 21, 2026.
This year's AGM will provide an opportunity to reflect on organizational progress, learn more about CIM's strategic direction, and consider proposed updates to the Association's by-laws. These governance improvements are intended to strengthen accountability, clarify responsibilities, and support the Association's long-term effectiveness.
The association is also inviting eligible Professional Members to consider serving on its National Board of Directors. Nominations are open until November 6, 2026, offering members an opportunity to contribute their leadership experience and help shape the future of the management profession in Canada.
Whether through Board service, Chapter Committee involvement, or participation in the AGM, member engagement remains essential to CIM's continued success.
Expanding Our NCMA Accreditation Network
CIM continues to strengthen its connections with post-secondary institutions through its National Centre for Management Accreditation (NCMA), recognizing educational programs that align with professional management competencies and pathways to designation.
Since August 2026, the Association has welcomed several newly accredited programs and institutional partners.
Maskwacis Cultural College, Alberta
CIM welcomed Maskwacis Cultural College, an Indigenous post-secondary institution grounded in Cree knowledge, traditions, and community values. Its newly accredited Indigenous Business Management Diploma and Indigenous Bachelor of Business Management Degree reflect the importance of diverse approaches to management education and leadership development.
Canadian University Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Expanding CIM's international educational connections, Canadian University Dubai received NCMA accreditation for its Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. The institution offers a Canadian-inspired educational experience within a multicultural learning environment.
University of Windsor, Ontario
The University of Windsor's Master of Engineering Management program has also received NCMA accreditation. Offered through the Faculty of Engineering in partnership with the Odette School of Business, the program integrates technical expertise with business, leadership, and strategic management skills, supporting engineers and technical professionals moving into management roles.
Students enrolled in NCMA Professionally Accredited programs are eligible for free CIM Associate Membership while studying, connecting emerging professionals with valuable resources, professional networks, and pathways toward the C.I.M.® and C.Mgr.® designations.
New Partnership Recognizes Management Skills of Liberal Arts Graduates
CIM | Chartered Managers Canada has partnered with the University of King’s College in Halifax to launch an innovative Pathway to Management Recognition for liberal arts graduates living in Nova Scotia. Funded by the Province of Nova Scotia, the initiative recognizes management competencies developed through professional and community experience, using an online Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. Participants can demonstrate their existing knowledge and skills, earn digital badges, and work toward fulfilling the educational requirements for CIM’s C.I.M.® and C.Mgr.® professional designations. Available at no cost to eligible participants until March 2028 or until funding is exhausted, this new pathway reflects CIM’s commitment to making professional recognition more accessible while maintaining rigorous management standards.
Building the Future Together
From strengthening governance and Chapter collaboration to recognizing excellence in management education, CIM's recent activities share a common purpose: creating lasting value for members and advancing the management profession. As the Association moves toward 2027, the involvement of its members, volunteers, educators, and leadership will remain its greatest strength.
