Ensuring that a workplace is diverse, equitable, and inclusive is not only the right thing to do but has also been shown to improve business outcomes. To effectively manage DEI in the workplace, it is important to start with management.
Management can set the tone for the entire organization regarding DEI. They can model inclusive behaviour, prioritize diversity in hiring and retention, and create policies and procedures that promote equity. It is also important for managers to educate themselves on the issues surrounding DEI and to ensure that they create a safe and welcoming environment for all employees.
