In Memoriam: Alan J. Thorlakson, C.I.M., P.Mgr., C.Mgr.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and colleague, Alan J. Thorlakson, of the CIM Manitoba Chapter, at age 82. He passed peacefully on October 3, 2023. Alan joined the CIM Manitoba Chapter in 1984, after earning a Business Administration Degree from Red River College and going on to attend the University of Winnipeg to earn a double major B.A. with distinction. Alan received his C.I.M., P.Mgr. and C.Mgr. designations and was an active and dedicated member who volunteered with his local Manitoba Chapter for many years, and was awarded a Life Membership for his work.
Alan was a dedicated gardener who designed gardens featured in the Winnipeg Free Press and MMGA Garden Tour. While he lived with Parkinson’s for 16 years, his optimism and healthy lifestyle in addition to the support and love of his family enabled him to enjoy his home and gardens until the end.
The National Board, CIM Manitoba Chapter and staff send our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues, as we remember the life and contributions of a member of our CIM family.
