NCMA Professionally Accredited Programs at Keyano College

Through our Northern Alberta and Northwest Territories Chapter, CIM | Chartered Managers Canada has partnered with Keyano College to ensure that they offer programs that align with our Chartered Management Program. By completing any of these programs at Keyano College, graduates will become eligible for our Certified in Management (C.I.M.) professional designation. Keyano College offers multiple specializations within the Business Administration Diploma program, giving students flexibility in choosing a program that will help them develop their management skills while still being eligible for a designation.

Keyano College was founded in 1965 as the Alberta Vocational Centre in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Since its founding over 50 years ago, Keyano College has grown to teach thousands of students every year at their two primary campuses in Fort McMurray and Fort Chipewyan, their specialized Suncor Energy Industrial Centre in Fort McMurray, and their regional learning centres in Fort McKay and Gregoire Lake. Diploma in Business Administration

This two-year diploma program teaches students the foundational knowledge of business management that they will need to start a career in management. In the first year of study, all students will take introductory courses that cover the basic concepts of management. Topics covered include:

In the second year of study, students will be able to choose a program focus that will determine which courses to take, and provide students with a more comprehensive education in a specific area of business.

Management Specialization

In the management specialization of the Business Administration diploma program, students will take the knowledge gained from year-one courses and expand on them with a focus on developing skills in business analysis, planning, marketing and management communication. The management specialization covers the following topics in year-two:

Students will also be required to complete a business simulation project as well as an integrated case study to demonstrate their grasp of the knowledge they’ve been taught through the other courses in the program.

Accounting Specialization

Students who want to pursue a career in accounting management will benefit from the practical skills they will gain to allow them to analyze financial information, plan fiscal management policies and create business strategies. The accounting specialization covers the following topics in year-two:

Like the management specialization, students in the accounting specialization will also be required to complete an integrated case study, and a business simulation project with a heavier focus on the accounting concepts learned throughout the program.
