Requirements
To become a Chartered Manager, there are two main routes based on your education and experience:
- With a Business, Management, or Commerce Undergraduate or Graduate Degree:
• Have 48 months of professional management experience; and
• Successfully complete the Management Aptitude Evaluation (MAE); or
- With an Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Any Discipline:
• Complete the eight-course Chartered Management Program (CMP), available at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies and various colleges and universities across Canada; and
• Have 48 months of professional management experience; and
• Successfully complete the Management Aptitude Evaluation (MAE)
Applicants will have to provide copies of their academic credentials in addition to a detailed copy of their resume/CV and three (3) reference letters or contacts in support of their professional experience.
Application Process
- Be a member in good standing. If you are not already a member, you must first join as an associate member.
- Complete the online C.Mgr. ® application.
- Upload a detailed résumé outlining all academic and management experience aligning with the Chartered Manager Competency Framework (CMCF)
- Upload three (3) reference letters or provide contact information for three current references
- Pass the online Management Aptitude Evaluation (MAE) with a score of 60% or higher.
- Pay all applicable fees during the application process.
Maintaining paid annual membership is essential to keep your designation valid. Lapsed memberships may require reapplication and associated fees. Members holding a C.Mgr. ® designation must also commit to Continuing Professional Development (CPD). A member must obtain 80 PDU credits every three years to meet CPD requirements. International Credential Assessment
For equivalent academic credentials from institutions outside of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the UK, and the US, an Educational Credential Assessment is required. Visit www.canalliance.org for details. The Professional Review Committee may request this assessment for any international credential, and it must be uploaded during the application process.
Application Fees
The fees associated with applying for the Chartered Manager (C.Mgr.®) designation are listed below:
- Application Fee: $50.00 (plus tax)
- MAE Fee: $150.00 (plus tax)
- C.Mgr.® Annual membership: $300.00 (plus tax – renewed each year)
Our annual C.Mgr. ® membership is $300.00 (plus tax) and renews every June 1st. If you have already paid associate member dues, you will only pay the difference to upgrade and renew at the full rate thereafter. Click here for information about our annual fee-schedule.
The MAE fee includes two attempts. If you pass on the first try, your designation will be approved. If not, you can retake it. If you’re unsuccessful after two attempts, you must wait 30 days before retaking the MAE (additional fees apply).
